Message from Carol Tallon: 

This week we go through the most potentially impactful pre-Budget 2026 submissions from across the main industry bodies and find out what industry really wants/needs in order to speed up the delivery of critical new homes and infrastructure across Ireland, including Proptech Ireland’s call for a €15 million digital planning and placemaking pilot fund. 

Also, we see the first rapid-build modular homes from Volumetric Building Company land at Limerick park. This ‘Smart housing’ is a key part of Mayor John Moran’s bid to tackle the accommodation crisis locally. 

We held our breath but still it came… a judicial review has been taken against the Greater Dublin Drainage Project. Once again it shows that the strategic infrastructure underpinning every new home and premises in the State must be protected to ensure delivery on the ground. This does not mean LESS public consultation; it means BETTER, EARLIER, and more MEANINGFUL consultation that captures local sentiment (loud minority vs. silent majority: placing appropriate emphasis on achieving the common or national good, as per the Public Consultation Institute of Ireland)
