On Property Matters this week, Carol Tallon is joined remotely by Nikki Greenberg, Founder of Real Estate of the Future, Stephen MacDonald, Partner at The Proptech Connection and Alfredo Diaz-Araque Moro, Founder of Spanish Proptech for our International Proptech Special!
Nikki Greenberg, Founder of Real Estate of the Future and founder of the global Women in Proptech (WiPT) organisation was first to join Carol on Property Matters to give an overview of the real estate market in New York right now and talk about some of the “big problems” giving rise to “big opportunities” for proptech providers. Futurist Nikki shares her outlook for the sector globally in 2021 and gives some helpful advice for the industry.
Stephen MacDonald, Partner at The Proptech Connection joined Carol to talk about the venture capital ecosystem for proptech startups. Critically, he spoke of his time as a buyer at a well-known real estate investment trust (REIT) and shares tips for early-stage proptech providers trying to sell into larger organisations. He also spoke about routes for startups to access pilot use cases or testing environments that might, in time, become early customers. He also favours construction technology startups for 2021, listen back to find out why…
Alfredo Diaz-Araque Moro, Founder of Spanish Proptech was the final guest of the week to join us on Property Matters to share his experiences of the traditional Spanish market. Interestingly, he spoke about the acceleration of tech adoptions by previously slow-adopters/laggards during the pandemic, however, he also noted with caution that the industry’s early-adopters have tended to plateau in terms of investment in innovation during this period. Talking about his expectations for the sector in 2021, he cited contactless technologies and other pandemic-responsive solutions as likely leaders for the next few months. Alfredo also works with Spotahome, the international proptech that closed the doors of its Dublin-based operations earlier this year.
