For this weeks’ show, Property Matters’ hosts Carol Tallon and Bryan Fox are joined in studio by Director of New Homes at Knight Frank Ireland, Ray Palmer Smith, Business Owner of Robert Colleran Property Consultants Ltd, Robert Colleran and Director of Proptech TV, Gavin Gallagher. 

 

First up in studio with us was Ray Palmer Smith. As Director of New Homes at Knight Frank Ireland, Ray discusses new homes that are being delivered to the market and also talks about where the current demand is. Is supply meeting the demand? And what do we need more of? The discussion moves on to the help-to-buy scheme, what impact it has had on the market and mortgage availability . Other topics discussed include the buyers profile (first-time buyers, down-sizers and changes needs of contemporary families), down-sizers becoming a growing market and what the most important attributes for people buying a new home (energy rating, location, commuting time and transport links etc).

 

Robert Colleran, Business owner at Robert Colleran Property Consultants Ltd, was next to join Carol and Bryan in studio. Robert begins his interview by speaking about the impact of the election on the Private Rented Sector (PRS), co-living and the hotel market in Dublin. He explains development land pricing in the context of house price (affordability) and the viability of build to sell apartments (individually).  He closes out his interview by giving Carol and Bryan and run through of the increased demand for housing and scaled up supply by approved housing bodies  after the election. 

 

Our final guest this week was Gavin Gallagher, Director of Proptech TV. Gavin opens up his interview by giving us a run through of what the Proptech sector will look like in 2020 and also what has changed in the past decade. He also talks about sustainability in real estates and what we can expect to see in 2020 and beyond.
