On Property Matters this week, host Carol Tallon is joined remotely by Ray Cooke, Managing Director of Ray Cooke Auctioneers, John Moran, CEO of JLL Ireland and Adam Malik and PJ Appleton, Co-Founders of Bloxspring.
Ray Cooke, Managing Director of Ray Cooke Auctioneers was first to join Carol Tallon on Property Matters to discuss current market conditions and how the industry is reacting to them. Speaking about his own business, Ray explains that they are still doing business, complying with social distancing rules of course, online and over the phone. To keep his company operating, Ray and his team are maintaining contact with all current clients, property owners and tenants, addressing any queries. Ray points out that the market will not go back to normal straight away, once restrictions are lifted, we all need to keep ourselves working to ensure the return of normality to the industry.
John Moran, CEO of JLL Ireland joins Carol to talk about the JLL Q1 office report , together with the company’s forecasts for 2020 market performance. Discussing the likely impact of the unfolding Covid-19 shutdown on the Irish property market, John talks about how the JLL team members are managing the remote team working challenge, in terms of the technology being used, online meetings, etc.
Adam Malik and PJ Appleton, co-founders of Bloxspring were the final guests of the week to join us on Property Matters to discuss how the new startup is helping proptech providers scale globally. Talking to Carol about Bloxspring, they explain what a unique time it is for the two of them to be launching their business. Having both worked for proptech leader Equiem, Carol asks them how the business came about and why they felt the market was ready for something like this. As Bloxspring helps proptech firms overcome obstacles, they talk about what kind of interest they have had and if people still want to do business during this period.
