Property Matters 12th May 2020: Sherry Fitzgerald, Beagel.io & Safety Freelancer

Posted on May 12, 2020May 13, 2020

Tune into Property Matters on Dublin South FM from 6-7pm every Tuesday (or catch up via podcast on Spotify, iTunes etc). Listen back here: https://anchor.fm/ipropertyradio/episodes/Property-Matters–May-12th–2020-Sherry-FitzGerald–Safety-Freelancer–Beagel-io-eduvpe

On Property Matters this week, host Carol Tallon is joined remotely by Graham Murray, Regional Director with Sherry Fitzgerald, Healy Hynes, Founder of Beagel.io and Gavin Coyle, CEO & Founder of Safety Freelancer.

Graham Murray, Regional Director with Sherry Fitzgerald was first to join Carol Tallon on Property Matters to discuss the residential market activity during the pandemic, including attitudes of would-be buyers and sellers about the second-hand residential sales market, how they are feeling right now will directly impact the pace of activity and recovery upon reopening. Carol and Graham talk about the role of technology at this time and how it is enabling activity for many estate agents but also the limitations it exposes – we have yet to make the culture and behavioural shifts necessary to trust an excessively online buying experience. Are there many people looking to benefit from reduced competition in the marketplace? Listen back to the full interview to hear the answer.

Gavin Coyle, CEO & Founder of Safety Freelancer joined Carol to explain the changed safety landscape for the construction industry. Gavin opens up with an unexpected statistic- 30% of the American workforce freelance in some capacity, however, this figure is 20% in Europe and starting to rise by the day. The construction industry is a big beneficiary of this, but is it sustainable? Covid-19 is set to change how we work across all sectors of the property industry, how can we achieve the separation and yet still be part of a team?

Healy Hynes, Founder of Beagel.io was the final guest of the week to join us on Property Matters to talk about his recently published study on the impacts of Covid-19 on Ireland’s property sector. The research for the paper was based upon private treaty bids (worth over €1bn euros in total)  placed through their systems since January 2019. The Beagel.io Covid-19 Impact Report can be downloaded for free at https://www.beagel.io/covid19/
