Cork County Council opens applications for affordable homes in Pulleen Kanturk

Twenty discounted A-rated homes to go on sale for first-time buyers from 3 February

7 January 2026

Cork County Council has announced a new Affordable Housing Purchase Scheme at Pulleen in Kanturk, with applications opening at 12 noon on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. The scheme comprises 20 newly built, A-rated family homes developed by Vella Homes. The properties are primarily aimed at first-time buyers who do not currently own a home, along with eligible Fresh Start applicants, subject to scheme criteria.

The development includes a mix of two- and three-bedroom homes. Prices are set below open market values, with discounts ranging from approximately 19% to 22%. Two-bedroom mid-terrace houses are available from €260,000, two-bedroom bungalows from €315,000, and 16 three-bedroom end-of-terrace or semi-detached homes from €295,000.

Under the Affordable Housing Purchase Scheme, buyers will enter into an equity-sharing arrangement with Cork County Council. The local authority will retain an equity stake equivalent to the difference between the market value of the home and the purchase price paid by the buyer, expressed as a percentage of the market value, with a minimum equity share of 5%.

The Pulleen development is located close to Kanturk town, which offers primary and post- primary schools, healthcare services, shops, sports facilities and a town park. The area is within commuting distance of Cork, Limerick and Mallow, with Banteer railway station located nearby.

Applications will be accepted through Cork County Council’s online portal between 12 noon on 3 February 2026 and 12 noon on 23 February 2026. Full scheme details, eligibility criteria, the Scheme of Priority and guidance on making an application are available online. The application portal will open and close on the following webpage during the application window: https://www.corkcoco.ie/en/resident/housing/affordable-housing/affordable-housing-at-

The announcement follows the launch of further affordable housing under Cork City Council, with applications due to open later this month for the second phase of the Glenbride Affordable Housing Scheme on the Old Mallow Road, less than ten minutes from Cork city centre, offering additional two- and three-bedroom homes for eligible buyers.
